Your Adopted Baby’s 2nd Month In The Womb
Your baby is making progress developing all of his/her external features and internal organs. At 40 days his/her brain is functioning. Mother can hear his/her heartbeat now on an ultrasonic stethoscope. His/her milk teeth are present at 6 ½ weeks. It has been reported that a two month old baby can suck his/her thumb. From this moment onward, your spiritually adopted baby grows and refines his/her body. But everything he/she needs to survive at birth is present by the end of the 8th week. Keep on praying for your adopted baby.

YOUR SPIRITUALLY ADOPTED BABY-MONTH ONE
Your spiritually adopted baby has been quite active over the past month. Already your baby is 10,000 times bigger than at conception. Your baby has developed the foundation of his brain, spinal cord and nervous system by the 20th day. His/her heart began to beat on the 21st day and is pumping blood through its own circulatory system. The blood type can be different from his mother’s. Your baby is most vulnerable during the next month of being aborted. Pray that the Lord of Life, who developed the same way in Mary’s womb, might move the heart of this baby’s mother to give him/her the most precious gift of all – the gift of life.

THANK YOU ST. GENS
The Respect Life Committee and the Santa Maria Council of the Knights of Columbus thank you for your wonderful participation in the Day of the Unborn Child events on March 24-25. The number of gifts from the baby shower was very gratifying and allowed us to send some gifts to each of the following: A Baby’s Breath and Mary’s House (both crisis pregnancy centers) and to Catholic Social Services of Montgomery County. In addition 147 parishioners each “spiritually adopted” an unborn baby and pledged to say Bishop Sheen’s prayer for an unborn child every day for 9 months-that is until Dec. 25. Thank you all again.

A RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE NOTE
Prayer for a Culture of Life
“Lord, you created man and women in your image and endowed them with your dignity. You call each of us to be agents of your justice and mercy in the world. Help us to build a culture of life – a culture that holds all human life in reverence, from the unborn child and the immigrant, to the poor, the homeless, the infirm and the elderly. Give us the character to live the Gospel not just with our words, but with our hearts and our actions. Make us quick to forgive each other, quick to listen to each other and eager to serve those who are suffering and in need. And finally Lord, in all things, fill us with the courage to follow St. Paul when he urges us to ‘speak the truth in love.’ We ask this trusting in your goodness and in the name of your son, Jesus Christ. Amen.”
-Archbishop Charles Chaput

MARCH FOR LIFE 2012

January 22 marks the 39th anniversary of one of the most destructive Supreme Court decisions in American history, Roe v. Wade. By legalizing permissive abortion and drastically limiting voters’ ability to restrict it in any way, Roe v. Wade set the foundations for an abortion industry that has wounded countless women and resulted in the killing of more than 53 million unborn children.
Please join Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, OFM.cap., if possible in Washington, DC on Monday January 23, 2012 at the annual March for Life. On that he will celebrate Mass for the faithful of the Archdiocese at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington at 10:00 a.m.
Many of you have family and job obligations and would not be able to attend this most important event. But you can join them in spirit through your prayer and fasting. January 23rd has been designated a Particular Day of Prayer and Penance. There will be a Holy Hour at St. Genevieve on Monday, January 23rd for those who cannot attend the March but wish to pray for life.
May Mary, the mother of Jesus guide our hearts and minds as we give witness to the sanctity of all human life, especially the most vulnerable.
If you are interested in going to the March call the Diocesan Respect Life Office at 215-587-3703 for more information.
