SGS STUDENTS ENTERTAIN FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Members of the SGS Band, under the direction of Mrs. Terri Rice, entertained at their Spring Concert last week at Lorenz Hall. We are proud to recognize our eighth grade members for their years of dedication. Thank you to Blaise Crofton, Braeden Foley and Evan Funchion. The evening also featured members of our Strings group under the direction of Mrs. Laura Vidmar.
A BIG THANK YOU!
Thank you to all who supported our Annual Walk-A-Thon. At last report, over $12,000 has been raised. Although we could not use Bysher Field due to rain and mud, the students enjoyed great music, dancing, walking and snacking right here in our parking lot. We truly appreciate the generosity of all our supporters.
EIGHTH GRADE APPRECIATION DINNER
Parents, faculty and eighth grade students enjoyed socializing, dining and the premier viewing of the class of 2012’s DVD. The students did a fine job of hosting a memorable evening.

Each class signed a pledge that stated how they would work toward being mindful of others, accepting of others, etc. The gathering was held outside in the schoolyard in the context of a prayer service. All of us at SGS are more mindful of who we are called to be and how to be each day!

OUTREACH SERVICE PROJECTS
SGS continues to provide monthly lunch bags to “Face to Face,” St. Vincent’s Parish in Germantown. The generosity of our parents and children is overwhelming. We began this outreach project in September, 2011 and it has grown each month.
EXTRA PROGRAMS ADVERTISEMENTS AND A GRANT
SGS has been gifted with additional programs, advertisements and a grant received for 2012.
In an effort to continue to provide quality, Catholic education for the children who attend SGS, we would like to share with you resources that will be available in January 2012. We realize that as a faculty and staff moving forward in education today and securing the means to make provisions for the 21st century student is critical.
The faculty and students have been” in-serviced” on the care and use of the Netbooks we received. This new technology equipment will be available for individual student use in the classrooms in a variety of ways.
IXL on-line Math program has been purchased with the support of the Home and School Association funds and private donations. This program strengthens the Common Core State Standards in Math which we are implementing this year.
A new school sign has been made and is proudly displayed outside the Main Office. The generosity of parent support through our Home and School Association and a generous donor have made this possible.
The school music program is a grant recipient of a set of 24 hand-chimes in 3 octaves. This grant is renewable every year. We are happy to share of of our good news with you during this season!
